Shona - I love you

This day, past few years

I had a vacant heart

Some one tried to step in

And out they were

Mischeveous he, unlocked my inhibitions

The law of Reverse Effects

Helping him all along.

I did not know the end was near

Begining a new life to this day.

The shores have all the sand and water

The beaches have the shells and pebbeles beautiful

The moring sun looks so sunny

While the setting sun a reminder

Beautiful nights i spend with you

Close in your arms locked with love

I know now that the days warm or cold

You will always be around.

Love you 4ever....

Adieu!

Does it make any difference?

I believe it does not make any difference, if they exist or do not however at the macroscopic level everone's existence makes a difference.

What am I talking about?!! Oh! I forgot, Ii thought you knew. Well, here it is-

Gates, who is stepping back to focus on his philanthropy, sat with CEO Ballmer in a Microsoft conference room and meandered through moments in Microsoft's history.

Regrets!

Gates, who founded Microsoft with Paul Allen in 1975, admitted that Microsoft has faltered along the way, and certainly isn't perfect today.

"When we miss a big change, when we don't get great people on it, that is the most dangerous thing for us," Gates said. "It has happened many times. It's OK, but the less the better."

Add-On

Gates, who will remain Microsoft's chairman on a part-time basis, said he would still take on Microsoft projects picked by Ballmer and two other executives who have assumed most of his day-to-day tasks, Craig Mundie and Ray Ozzie.

"I do think with my not being here full time there is some opportunity that people will really step up. There's somewhat of a vacuum created there," he said. "I have got to get out of the way, and let that new thing step in there."

I wish Microsoft all the luck with the adventure and journey that begins.

When it came time for Ballmer to make his public farewell to Gates, he joked about the inevitable inadequacy of a thank-you gift, and presented him with a large scrapbook embossed with Gates' signature. Then, the tears came.

Adieu!

Forgotten remedies for Asthma

This is on special request!

The treatments in bold, are trusted and tried (all of this may be known, yet the simple implementation is what brings us closest to cure.....)

Asthma is a chronic disorder of the respiratory system. Asthma is a common condition including: shortness of breath, narrowing of the air passages in the lungs, cough, wheezing, excess mucus in the air way, and more.

During "asthma attack" the muscles around the airways tighten, which causes inflammation and excess mucus, which makes the ir pass narrow so it is hard for air to pass from the lungs.

Home Remedies for Asthma

  1. Put fennel oil in a burner and breathe the fumes. (Aromatherapy)
  2. Asthma home remedy: drink a Cup of Hot Water (as hot as one can take).
  3. Aromatherapy - Boil water in a pot. Cool, Lean towards the pot with a big towel over your head and inhale the steam for 20 minutes. You can also use:

  • 1/4 teaspoon eucalyptus oil in 3 cups of water
  • Fresh or dried eucalyptus leaves can be added to the water instead of the pure essential oil. You can replace the eucalyptus oil with other essential oils listed (such as lavender), except bay, clove, or thyme. Whichever essential oil you use, be sure to keep your eyes closed while steaming. It's okay to use this steam as often as you like.

Honey is one of the most common home cures for asthma. It is supposed that if a jug of honey is held beneath the nose of an asthma patient and he inhales the air that comes into contact by means of it, he starts breathing easier and deeper. One of the popular home remedies for asthma.

Mustard (Rye) Oil: During the attack, mustard oil mixed with little camphor should be massaged over the chest. This will loosen up phlegm and ease breathing. The patient should also inhale steam from boiling water mixed with caraway seeds (siya jeera). It will dilate the bronchial passage.

Indian gooseberry (Amla) has also proved precious in asthma. Five grams of gooseberry mixed with one tablespoon of honey forms an useful medicinal tonic for the treatment of this ailment. It must be taken every morning

The roots of the bitter gourd (Karela) plant have been used in folk medicine for asthma since earliest times. A teaspoon of the root paste, mixed with an identical amount of honey or juice of the tulsi leaves, given once every night for a month, acts as an exceptional medicine for this disease. One of the best home remedies for asthma

A teaspoon of fresh ginger juice, mixed with a cup of fenugreek decoction and honey to taste, acts as a brilliant expectorant in cases of asthma. The decoction of fenugreek can be made by addition of one tablespoon of fenugreek seeds in a cupful of water. This remedy must be taken once in the morning and once in the evening.

If all of this does not help then one sure shot remedy is to take an old turmeric piece and old honey. The older the better, make a fine powder of turmeric using mortar and pestle. Add two tablespoonful of honey mix it with one tablespoonful of turmeric, eat it everyday it cures any asthmatic attacks.

Recommended Diet for Asthma

Carbohydrates, fats plus proteins

The patient must keep away from common nutritional errors. Ideally, his diet must contain a limited amount of carbohydrates, fats and proteins which are 'acid-forming' foods, and a liberal amount of alkali-forming foods consisting of fresh fruits, green vegetables, sprouted seeds, and grains.

The patient must avoid foods, which tend to produce phlegm, such as rice, sugar, lentils, and curds. He must also avoid fried and other difficult to-digest foods, strong tea, coffee, alcoholic beverages, condiments pickles, sauces and all refined and processed foods.

Fasting and exercises

The patient must also pursue the other laws of nature. Air, sun, and water are great remedial agents. Normal fasting once a week, an infrequent enema, breathing exercises, fresh air, a dry climate, light exercises, and right posture go a long way in treating the disease.

Yoga for Asthma patients

There are various asanas that can be followed to help reduce effects of Asthma like – Paschimutanassan, pranayaam, they regulate breathing in such a way that it ensures blood circulation along with corrected posture, breathing techniques.

Another form of treatment – Aromatherapy (mentioned above, here is more..)

Many aromatherapy books warn against using essential oils to treat asthma. Some asthmatics are sensitive to fragrance and find that it triggers their attacks. Although you certainly don't want to make the situation any worse, aromatherapy offers promising results when used judiciously.

The safest time for aromatherapy treatments is in-between attacks. Use a chest rub made from essential oils that have decongestive and antihistamine properties, such as peppermint and ginger. German chamomile, which contains chamazulene, is thought to actually prevent the release of histamine. Frankincense, marjoram, and rose encourage deep breathing and allow lungs to expand. To reduce bronchial spasms, use the relaxants: chamomile, lavender, rose, geranium, and marjoram.

A lavender steam can be used by some asthmatics even during an attack. The steam opens airways, while the lavender quickly relaxes lung spasms. This may halt the attack right in its tracks or at least make it less severe. As an added bonus, lavender also relaxes the mind, so it helps dissipate the panic you feel when you can't catch your breath.

If you find that steaming only makes it more difficult to breathe, use an aromatherapy diffuser or a humidifier instead. For babies and small children, put some very hot water in the bathtub, add several drops of lavender essential oil, and hold the child in your arms over the steam. You can also rub someone's feet with aromatherapy massage oil.

Su-Jok is another good method of treating asthma using acupressure techniques along with stimulation of diffrent regions on hands and legs under guidance that can be learnt and practiced.

Good wishes to all!!

Parkinson's

Parkinson's disease is a progressive disorder of the central nervous system. It is a chronic, slowly progressing and often debilitating disease which ultimately affects the mind and personality clinically, the disease is characterized by a decrease in spontaneous movements, gait difficulty, postural instability, rigidity and tremor. Parkinson's disease is caused by the degeneration of the pigmented neurons in the Substantia Nigra of the brain, resulting in decreased dopamine availability.

Parkinson’s has been discovered to be genetic as well with 13 forms due to the mutation of certain genes.

Its effects can be reduced with yoga, physiotherapy, certain home remedies, juice therapy etc.

Physiotherapy

Induces relaxation, invigorate the patient, and improve various physical functions. Use as a supportive therapy.

 Ozone-producing machines:
Ozone may help improve nervous system and brain function in Parkinson's patients. The FDA has not yet approved the machines for medical use; however, they are available through medical doctors and from people who work to make homes and offices more environmentally healthful.
Alternate hot and cold showers; warm bath with herbs added to the water
Alternate hot and cold head douches
 Saunas followed by massage

 Outdoor exercise
 Sun and ocean baths

Caution: When using warm water, please watch out against skin damage to persons with diminished temperature sensation when extreme temperatures are applied.

Yoga -

Dandayamana Dhanurasana with the help of instructors can be beneficial. Dandayamana Dhanurasana is also known as Standing Bow Pulling Pose. It tries to inculcate a sense of balance in you. As it develops your balance it also brings out your level for patience. Concentration increases and so does your persistence.

Juice Therapy

·        Carrot and Spinach Juice daily

·         Carrot, beet, radish, garlic, and cucumber daily

·         Seasonal raw fruit and vegetables

Herbal Remedies

Larkspur: 20 grams in 4 cups of boiling water; do not drink more than 3 cups a day, a mouthful at a time.

Lady's slipper is good for tremors, especially in debilitated conditions; it clears depression. Use a standard decoction or 3-9 g; tincture, 10-30 drops. Take 3 or 4 times a day for maximum effectiveness.

Skullcap: Combine with lady's slipper for broader action. Strengthens the brain. Standard infusion or 3-9 g; tincture, 10-30 drops (Very often, instead of skullcap germander is given as skullcap. Ask for the genuine herb.)

A combination of herbs that include rhubarb, peony (paeonia), licorice and magnolia bark are said to stop tremors and relax stiff muscles.  Consult a herbalist for proper dosage.

Bupleurum Formula with Paeonia and Licorice Combination with magnolia bark - for persons with irritability, debilitating anxiety and insomnia.

Alcoholism is one of the possible indirect causes of Parkinson's, and herbal remedies which support the liver, pancreas and adrenal glands help to alleviate symptoms.

Ginseng, horsetail, hops, skullcap, passion flower and valerian root help to alleviate symptoms of Parkinson's. Prepare a herbal tea using 1 tsp. of herbs in 1 cup of boiling water and drink 3 cups daily.

Herbs also may be used synergistically with the appropriate drugs used to treat Parkinson's disease. For example, passion flower was found to improve the effectiveness of the drug L-dpa (levodopa). It reduces the passive tremor when used with L-dopa. (more than when using L-dopa alone.) However, passion flower only has minimal effect if used alone. Take one-half teaspoonful of passion flower tincture three times a day.

Ginkgo biloba scavenges free radicals and boosts circulation to the brain. Select a product containing at least 24 percent ginkgo heterosides (sometimes called flavoglycosides) and start by taking 40 milligrams three times daily. If you feel fine at that dosage, you can gradually increase to as much as 80 milligrams three times daily.

Spread the knowledge, just one remedy and get blessed with life.

Especially, when we hear it is hereditary. We never think that there may be other factors that tend to aggravate it like insulin deficiency, resistance, excess intake of carbohydrates, high BP, cholesterol, lack of exercise. All of this as well as diabetes leads to other problems in our organs like the eye, heart, kidney, nerves.

Simple treatments can help us check our diabetes like regular yoga, proper intake of fiber rich food good intake of water.

The use of essential oils can reduce inflammation, encourage cell regeneration, and eliminate infection. Colorful World

Beautiful Butterfly World

The butterfly world was founded in 1988, by Ronald Boender. It was just his fascination of butterflies that bought him to visualize such a beautiful creature’s existence and display it to the world.

He was bought up in Illinois, and moved to Florida after completing a successful career in electrical engineering in 1968. He learned of attractions called the Butterfly houses being setup in UK and travelled to England to investigate it. He met Clive Farrell the originator of Butterfly houses. They came in partnership to design a park that was to be a public attraction first and foremost with various facilities as research and education.

The park in years to come expanded to include the country’s free-flight humming bird aviary a lorikeet encounter, skilled aviculture research and care facilities. The butterfly world has been instrumental in saving some endangered species of butterflies.

You can visit it in Coconut Creek, Florida.

Dusky Beauty - Smita

Smita Patil born on October 17, 1955 was a leading Indian actress from the 1970s to the 1980s in both Hindi and Marathi cinema.

Starting out in the early Seventies (1974) with Shyam Benegal's "Charandas Chor" — a first for both — she soon developed into an actress of great intuitive talent and artistic worth. Her dusky, smouldering, earthy looks, coupled with her histrionic voltage, made her one of the stars of the New Cinema that was blitzing the screen and consciousness of a newer and more perceptive audience. Along with Shabana Azmi, Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri, she formed the most potent quartet representing the parallel cinema. Some of her landmark films like Manthan (1977), Bhumika (1977), Aakrosh (1980) and Chakra (1981) won her praise.

Patil was also an active feminist (in a distinctly Indian context) and a member of the Women's Centre in Bombay. She was deeply committed to the advancement of women's issues, and gave her endorsement to films which sought to explore the role of women in traditional Indian society, their sexuality, and the changes facing the middle-class woman in an urban milieu. Her arguably greatest (and unfortunately final) role came when Smita re-teamed with Ketan Mehta to play the feisty and fiery Sonbai in Mirch Masala (1987). Smita won raves for playing a spirited spice-factory worker who stands up against a lecherous petty official.

Smita was the daughter of a government minister shivajirao patil, shirpur (khandesh)and a social-worker mother. Born in Pune, Maharashtra, she studied at a Marathi-language school. Her first tryst with the camera was as a television newscaster. Her dusky beauty and large eyes drew attention. Always a bit of a rebel, she would grin when people complimented her on looking lovely in the saris she sported for the telecasts because minutes before going on air, she would have hurriedly wrapped the sari over her jeans.

When Patil became romantically involved with the actor Raj Babbar and later married him. Raj Babbar a much-married man who eventually left his present wife to marry Patil, she drew severe criticism from her fans and the media, clouding her personal life and throwing her into the eye of a media storm. Overnight, Patil was labeled a "home-breaker" and became the target of barbed criticism. "It was a nightmare for both Smita and Raj and looking back it was ultimately her dignified silence and restraint that becalmed those troubled times. Ushering in hope for a promising, new future -- but that was not to be."

Smita died as a result of childbirth complications on December 13, 1986. Nearly two decades later, one of India's greatest film directors, Mrinal Sen alleged that she died because of gross negligence.'"

"She passed away even before she could cement her relationship with her just born son, Prateek," a 2002 remembrance noted. "Her son, now a strapping teenager, is not the only 'Prateek' (symbol) of her memories. The only Asian cine-star who had the unique honour of a Retrospective in Paris and La Rochelle (at the promptings of no less a film luminary than director Costa Gavras), a two-time best actress award winner at the National Film Festival, a Padma Shree as well as a devoted wife and brand new mother, Smita Patil had every thing going her way, before the ironic final cut spliced her life from sight to memory. And the loss, even today, remains, irrevocably, ours....

A Diva - Rekha

I have been thinking of doing this for a long time now and so here is a short biography of Rekha the actress. I not only admire her as a person but am also named after her.

Till date, no diva has matched her beauty, her charisma, and her class. She is elegant and a woman of few words, where media have tried to intrude into her personal life however Rekha chooses to keep mum. The 51-year old lets her 1000-watt smile do all the talking.

No one really knows the real Rekha. To Rekha, her mask is both a protecting shield and a tragic face of stardom. She wants it on, but she also wants it peeled off, so she would feel like herself again. Rekha has undergone too much stress as a person and as a professional, to remember the original self.

She is the daughter of renowned Tamil actor Gemini Ganesan and the Telugu actress Pushpavalli. Rekha's parents were not married, and her father did not acknowledge his paternity during her childhood. It was during the early 1970s, when she was looking for a footing in the Bollywood film industry, that she revealed her origins. Later, at the peak of her career, Rekha told a magazine interviewer that her father's neglect still rankled and that she had ignored his efforts at reconciliation.

Rekha has acted in over 180 films in her around 40 years of career. Taking part in both Indian mainstream cinema and art cinema, known in India as parallel cinema, she has achieved commercial success, as well as critical praise for her performances throughout the years.

Date of Birth

10 October 1954, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India

Birth Name

Bhanurekha Gemini Ganesan

Nickname

The Bollywood Queen
Re
Madame X
Rekhaji

Height

5' 7" (1.70 m)

Mini Biography

Bhanurekha was born in the Telugu-speaking Ganesan household; she has seven sisters and one brother. One of her sisters is Dr. Kamala Selvaraj, while another one, Radha, lives in San Francisco with a son named Naveed, who is being readied to act in Bollywood movies.

No stranger to the tinsel screen, Bhanurekha acted in a Telugu movie 'Rangula Ratnam' as Baby Bhanurekha along with her mom during 1966, which was subsequently re-made and released in Hindi during 1976 as 'Rangeela Ratan'. She acted in one more Telugu as well as one Kannada movie (Amma Kosam and Goadalli CID 999 respectively) before re-locating to Bombay.

Due to her background, she ended up being very gloomy and pessimistic during her early years. Her debut in Bollywood movies was during 1970’s with 'Sawan Bhadon' opposite Navin Nischal with a screen name of Rekha. Inability to speak Hindi, a dusky complexion as well as her weight did not exactly add to her assets in a predominantly fair-skinned, Hindi-speaking North-Indian film industry.

She decided to take matters seriously, took Yoga, shed those extra pounds, learned Hindi and dancing, and thus was born a new and much improved Rekha - who went on to deliver one box office hit after another for example 'Nagin', 'Muqadar Ka Sikander', 'Mr. Natwarlal', 'Khubsoorat', 'Umrao Jaan', 'Khoon Bhari Maang',
the school-maarmish housewife of Ijaazat  amongst others.

Her first performance-oriented role came in 1976 when she played an ambitious woman in Do Anjaane, co-starring Amitabh Bachchan. The film was a hit, as well as a critical success, and she was widely noticed for her performance.

However, her most significant turning point came in 1978, when she portrayed the role of a rape victim in the movie Ghar, alongside Vinod Mehra. The film was considered her first notable milestone, as she got critical acclaim for her performance, and received her first nomination for Best Actress at the Filmfare. In that same year, she first attained real fame with Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, in which she co-starred once again with Amitabh Bachchan. The movie was the biggest hit of that year, as well as one of the biggest hits of the decade, and Rekha was set as one of the most successful actresses of these times. Apart from being a commercial success, the film opened to positive critical reception, and Rekha's performance earned her a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the Filmfare.

In her later years she has taken up character roles and appeared as a mother, even a grandmother in 'Krrish' during 2006.

Her slim, slender looks got her many admirers, including well established Bollywood actors such as Kiran Kumar, Jeetendra, Vinod Mehra, and Amitabh Bachchan. Her marriage to Vinod ended in a divorce, and she ended up getting married to a businessman, Mukesh Aggarwal. This marriage resulted, too, in a divorce, with Mukesh killing himself shortly thereafter.

She likes to surf the Internet, has written biographies of actresses like Zeenat Aman, and Salma Agha on IMDB, likes to collect old photographs and postcards, mimic people, watch movies, and practices Yoga regularly, read comics like Archie and Dennie the Menace, and is a vegetarian. She now lives with her Secretary, Farzana, and pets in a self-owned bungalow in Bandra (West) in Mumbai.

There is more to her than just what is on this page....

Just 1 House

How often do you think of owning a house?

With news like - "Vinod Khanna in record realty deal at Rs 31 cr" at such costs ordinary people in India would never be able to buy a house!!

"Vinod Khanna in record realty deal at Rs 31 cr" - Cinestar and BJP MP Vinod Khanna has bought a residential apartment at Malabar Hill, in the tony South Mumbai area, from Citibank for Rs 1.25 lakh a sq ft. Khanna has paid Rs 31.25 crore for the 2,500 sq ft flat. The sale price was four times higher than the reserve price of Rs 32,000 per sq ft. Real estate industry experts said the price at which a property was sold cannot be viewed as a benchmark in South Mumbai as the area has a limited supply of real estate. "Buyers are keen on South Mumbai properties due to the status attached to it. Properties in the area will always sell at a premium," said Sanjay Dutt, deputy managing director, Cushman & Wakefield."

What do you think??

Some of us with dreams of purchasing a house in India, the prices that come to mind for a mere 2BHK is 25lakhs and above. 2BHK is a what a small family would start with as they grow the family would like to move to 3/4BHK if possible or more in terms of reality 2 2BHK's to accomodate the family.

With rising prices ordinary man should not think of moving from a rented apartment, where rents are at an equal high.

Well, man just needs some space to live, food and clothes.

Oh! not to forget a JOB!!!
