This so happened when I started to discuss dreams with my partner and realized a few aspects of dreams and their patterns, some of which was surprisingly true.
I dreamt more of people known to me and more concerned with personal appearance. The interactions were more friendly with more references to food and had more female characters in them. I reported longer dreams and recounted them with more feeling, using colors to express feelings. I dreamt more often of enclosed bodies of water, such as pools, lakes, ponds though sometimes of rivers. I dreamt of verbal assaults. Dreams were personal and more of an indicator about my upbringing my hidden feelings (feelings in my subconscious).
He tends to have more men in his dreams and be in conflict or competition with them. Outdoor and unfamiliar settings were prevalent. Sometimes weapons (sword - he just loves them), tools, cars and roads were more common in his dreams. His aggressive encounters involved physical threats, sometimes with a tangent of possessiveness (for me).
Men and women dream differently, but age, vocation, family structure, sex role orientation and other factors seem as important as anatomy in many cases. A simple explanation is to say that we simply dream about those things we have concerns about in waking life.
Happy dreaming!!!
